FINALLY! I am starting to get that primal need to decorate for Christmas. I bought a little four foot tree and some simple ornaments. I love colored lights at Christmas; so the little tree for the nursery is colorful and cute. I even made precious plaid bows to decorate each mama’s nursery bay door. All the puppies are getting me in the fa la la mood; so tomorrow it is wreath at the gate and up the driveway. I am usually all decorated by now, but we have been so busy. Desi’s puppies have opened their eyes and are standing up. They arf and growl and fuss when their mama goes out of the nursery for a break. I love it when she comes back in and the pups start making their snorking noises and grunting noises as they latch on for a nice warm drink before a fat bellied and satisfied nap. Morgan’s puppies are eleven days younger than Desi’s pups and Morgan is a good mother too, but I have to say that Morgan does not keep her bay as neat as Desi does. Morgan is constantly nesting and scratching her nesting rugs up in a pile. Both girls are always waiting for me when I go in to the nursery, but Megan is more relaxed about the whole thing. Of course Megan had only one puppy…one plump, perfect white puppy. And Megan’s puppy has it made with a veritable smorgesboard (sp?) to choose from while the other puppies have to win a good position. It is so funny to watch them pulling themselves into dining position tumbling over one another and squeaking and grunting to get the best spot. Morgan likes to lie down to let her puppies feed while Desi prefers the sitting position so that she can make a quick break from them if teeth appear. Ah, there is a lot to be said for experience. We will begin weaning them at four weeks, and that will keep me hopping preparing their special meals four times a day. I too will remain in the upright position so that I can get away quickly when needed.
